A cartoonist by trade, Brett studied Animation for 4 years and Film & TV for 1 year.
In 1997, Brett visited Hollywood animation studios Klasky-Csupo (Rugrats, Duckman, The Simpsons 87-92) and Film Roman (The Simpsons 92-Present, Family Guy, King of the Hill) to discuss animation techniques with Jim Duffy (winner of 3 Emmys out of 15 nominations) and Brad Ableson (winner of 1 Emmy) and their respective teams.
Brett has drawn cartoon illustrations for technical and general print media. Clients have included Education Queensland, Lifeline, Leukaemia Foundation, Commerce Queensland and 4ZzZ radio station.
A self taught puppeteer (influenced by Jim Henson and The Muppets), Brett has performed puppet shows for children and attended the "Puppets Vs. People" workshop, conducted by Sydney director and puppeteer Jon Williams.
In 2012, Brett was the "Puppetry Consultant" and "2nd Hands Puppeteer" (Nicky, Trekkie Monster) with the Brisbane Arts Theatre production of the Broadway musical, Avenue Q.
Brett is the owner/operator of Larrikin Puppets, performing for kids' parties, fetes, schools, corporate functions, wedding receptions and other special events. You can find out more at the official Larrikin Puppets website.
Since learning classical piano from the age of 3, Brett has performed keyboard with following groups:
6-piece theatrical, genre blending "circus-metal" band.
2-piece Electro House/Dance Pop outfit.
10-piece Ska/Swing band.
